Border Bash Aragon
El Camino del Buitre
Aragon, Spain
The Border Bash Aragon is a guided bikepacking event set in the stunning Sierra de Guara, Spain. This is not a race; our goal is to unite like-minded people who enjoy biking in the beautiful, lesser-known region of Aragon.
Over the course of three days, we will cover 179 km, exploring local communities, savoring regional cuisine, and learning about the rich local culture. If you enjoy riding your gravel bike, making new friends, and indulging in delicious food, join us in Aragon this April!
We want to take you further and show you more about this beautiful place, its culture, and its people. Instead of doing day rides from one location, we have decided to offer you an overnight bikepacking adventure!
Our plan is to meet at Camping Canones de Guara Formiga (Base Camp) on Thursday, April 24. From there, we will embark on a ride around the Sierra de Guara.
On the first day (Friday), we will ride 69 km to the Refugio de Nocito, where we will spend the night and enjoy dinner together. On Saturday morning, we will have breakfast at the same location before riding 63 km back to Base Camp, where a dinner featuring traditional Jota dancers will be awaiting us.
Finally, on Sunday morning, after breakfast, we’ll embark on one more ride along the iconic 47 km Bridge Route.
ITINERARY:
Thursday, April 24 - Check-in from 5 PM - 10 PM
Friday, April 25 - We will depart at 10 AM for a 69 km ride to Refugio de Nocito, where we will spend the night and enjoy dinner together.
Saturday, April 26 - After breakfast at Refugio de Nocito, we will roll out at 9:30 AM for a 63 km ride back to Base Camp. There, we’ll be treated to dinner featuring traditional Jota dancers.
Sunday, April 27 - After breakfast, we will depart at 10 AM for one final ride along the iconic 47 km Bridge Route.
We look forward to sharing this adventure with you!
"There is something crucially important nowadays with events as laid back as the Border Bash camp. Gravel is getting more and more competitive and the essence of it can be diminished sometimes to gels and shaven legs and brands getting in your face a little bit too much, but Border Bash is of another breed, a grass roots brew that you can sip with friends at sunset not worrying about tomorrow’s troubles."

If I understand anything about Ondrej’s concept for the Border Bash, and the use of the word Border, it is probably thanks to a fisherman that I met. He said:
“There’s no border, it’s just the dream of kings and lunatics that got us here.” He said: “I live on La Raya (the border), my wife was on the other side, we’d meet for lunch in Portugal, she’d come for siesta in Spain.” He said: “The sea cannot separate us here, it’s way too small and the sea never wanted to separate anyone.” He said: “I dunno, maybe I’ll catch something again and then go home.” I said: “I am going to the other side now.” He said: “I ll meet you there, maybe, again, on the other side.”
